Ж-Men...but not the ones you might expect!
This week LJ Russia launched Ж-Men, a new comedy series about superheroes, inspired by the LJ communities dedicated to superheros, comics and cartoons. The title's "Ж" comes from ЖЖ, the nickname for LiveJournal in Russia.

Ж-Men's script is written by a group of LJ enthusiasts who also happen to be television professionals. Who knew? Following the premiere, five more episodes will be broadcast over the next two weeks. We hope you find the series fresh and enjoyable.

This is, of course, an experiment for LiveJournal. As always, we'd love to hear what you think!

It's over.

Tonight was the final performance - it was spectacular - and now, it's all gone.

GONE.

FINISHED.

DONE WITH.

:(

I got so close to so many people working on this play. We all got so into our parts; Matt became Sweeney, Bart became Anthony, Sophie became Johanna, Lily became the beggar woman. And Mrs. Lovett will always be a part of me, from her cheery facade to the barely concealed insanity just below the surface.

Needless to say, it's going to be so hard to say goodbye to playing this character, I can't even tell you.

And yeah, I know, it's just a school production. But it was probably the best thing I've done since I've been here. (And I've had some good times at this place, believe me.)

The after party tonight was... um... eventful. I'll just say that. x) But unfortunately, there's at least one, probably more people who could potentially get in trouble if I carried on with that thought. And one of those people may be a teacher. :D;

(Let's just say putting a big giddy cast together with their teachers and giving them alcohol is an interesting combination!)

I didn't realise how much I didn't want this to end, haha.

Sweeney, Sweeney, Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeneeeeeeeeeeeey!

(The subject isn't me on a caffeine high, that's how they've written the words to some of the songs in my script, haha.)

So tonight was our first night of performing Sweeney Todd, and it didn't actually go horribly wrong anywhere. I was really happy about that, haha, because it really felt like this play was not going to come together at all in the week leading up to it.

Sondheim does not let you off with easy shit, let me tell you.

But. Yes. There were a few little instances that weren't quite right- there was a moment in A Little Priest where I came in too early with one of my lines, but it was okay in the end... And some of the little things in the various places where the Ballad comes in didn't quite happen properly. But that's to be expected.

I FINALLY got all my words right in God That's Good, which has been absolutely kicking my ass. It's not very hard melodically or in terms of timing, but there are about 5849258472953 verses that all have the same exact tune and it's ridiculously easy to do the wrong verse at the wrong time which can totally throw you off.

It's kind of interesting to me how Mrs. Lovett is really the one to bring a little bit of comic relief to the play at times. I like it because I'm NEVER the comic relief, I'm always the melodramatic one that makes everyone feel horrible about themselves. xD (But this time it's the guy part, not me! Yay!)

So, yes, all-in-all, it went as well as a first night could really be expected to go I think. Tomorrow night will be even better, I should hope! :)

And they have videoed (is that a word?) this performance, so as soon as I get my hands on a copy it'll probably end up on the internet, haha.
